Silver Waltham half hunter pocket watch, 1908.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, Traveler grade, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 17,467,753 dates it back to 1908. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for Birmingham 1924, with a case maker's mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company, the company made the majority of cases for Waltham UK.

The discrepancy in movement date and case hallmark tells us that the two did not start life together. It could well be that either the original movement or case was badly damaged and a complete swap was a more economically viable alternative.

The front of the case is in good condition and has enamel filled Roman numerals around a central lens. The case back has unevenness.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is a glass lens which is in good condition.

The signed dial has blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed. There are two short faint hairlines underneath the sub seconds dial but they are difficult to see with the naked eye.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
