ANTIQUE #SA704406

An 18th Century Mahogany Chest Of Drawers

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Christine Kavanagh Antiques

A George III period chest, c1770, Cuban timber with fiddle back veneered top. A brushing slide with green baise insert over an arrangement of four cock-beaded graduated drawers, Oak lined with swan-neck brasses. Bottom moulding raised on shaped brackets. Super rich patina. This well proportioned chest does not have its original handles, although they are themselves 18th century. At sometime, probably in the Victorian period the handles were changed and a different set added, only to be replaced at a later date with the original style of the period. This was professionally restored and is barely noticeable. We have taken the replaced handles into account when buying and pricing this otherwise very nice chest.
