Antique Rode Watch Co half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a high grade stem-winding movement, 17 jewels, five adjustments and swan neck regulator, which is working nicely. The movement is signed Rode Watch Co – the name was registered by Degoumois & Cie SA of  Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1910. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a small patch of scratching where the back has been prised open in the past.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and is the Star model from the Dennison Watch Case Company, the company supplied cases for various watch makers. The case has minor surface marks and small “dings” but overall is very acceptable for its age.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition, just a light circle, remnant of an old size label.

The dial is in good condition with blued steel hands, including the half hunter hour hand so the time can be read when the front cover is closed. There is a short faint hairline between 7 and 8 but quite difficult to see with the naked eye.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
