Gents Recta Minerva Marriage Watch

Gents Recta Minerva pocket watch conversion.

The watch has a good quality 17-jewel hand-winding movement, four adjustments, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Minerva mark.

Originally this watch would have been a pocket watch but at some stage, probably in the 1940s or 50s, it has been professionally converted to a wrist watch. The watch is over-sized at 50mm diameter excluding the onion crown and lugs. The case is nickel and it has a screw-on bezel and case back, a nice sign of quality.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The dial is signed Recta, just one of the brand names registered by Marchand & Jobin, they also registered Majex and Minerva so here we have a combination of the two. We have seen this before with a Recta Majex wrist watch. The dial is in good original condition with original hands (the infill has been removed over the years).

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
