Description

A beautifully proportioned c17th English solid oak chest of drawers with panelled sides and fabulous original bracket feet.

This is simplicity at its best, with the beading to the drawer fronts and later added brass drop handles, classic deep bracket feet.

Unusually, the three boards for the top of the chest run from front to back, rather than side to side and these are lovely original and wide boards with good grain detail and some aged use marks which are all part of this wonderful little chest of drawers history.

The drawers feature elm side runners and are all running smoothly, giving good storage if the chest is to be put to use, but I can see this piece working very well as a feature piece in a number of locations.

I have shown the chest along with a pair of chairs and an oval gilt mirror, just to give it some perspective.

A very good original and honest chest of drawers, something that will be happy as a stand alone piece to be admired, or used for storage if required!
