Gents 1950s Fears Wrist Watch

Gents 1950s Fears wrist watch.

The watch has a 21-jewel Swiss automatic movement, a Felsa 692, which is working nicely.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the lugs. The case is gold plated and there is some rubbing along the angled edges. The stainless steel case back states that the watch is water resistant but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is in very nice condition and it has its original dauphine shaped hands, seconds sweep and date display (not quickset).

The dial is signed Fears, Bristol, England. Fears was established in 1846 by Edwin Fears and today they are able to claim that they are one of the oldest family run watch companies in the UK. Despite adverse conditions during the 1930s depression and also the company headquarters and export department both sustaining bomb damage in the second World War, the company continued to trade. Today it is run by Edwin Fears' great-great-great-grandson who re-launched the company in 2016.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
