Gents 1952 Tissot Bumper Automatic Wrist Watch

Gents 1952 Tissot bumper automatic wrist watch.

The watch has a 28.5-1 bumper automatic movement which was in production from 1944 until 1953. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 2788518 dates it back to 1952. The movement is working nicely.

Early automatic watches relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition. The inner case back is signed with the Chs Tissot logo. Original Tissot winding crown.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish. It probably would have had painted detail to the numbers but this has been removed over the years. There is light freckling across the dial.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
