1928 Silver Orator Pocket Watch

1928 silver Orator pocket watch.

The watch has a 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for London (import mark), 1928 with an importer's mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case is nicely detailed around the edge and to the hinged back. There is an indentation to the case back, probably about 4mm wide, and some slight unevenness. There is a vacant cartouche.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish, a little discolouration but overall acceptable. Original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
