Description

Antique silver Omega pocket watch, Transvaal War.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Omega logo, and it is all protected by an inner hinged cover which has the inscription, 'Presented by the town of Ross to Private W R Hayward, Vol. Comp'y, Kings Shropshire LI, on his return from The Transvaal War, May 1901'.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Swiss 935 hallmarks inside the two case backs, together with the early Omega logo. The case has a couple of “dings” and slight unevenness to the case back but overall the condition is good for such an early watch.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer although it is difficult to read as it is partly rubbed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
