1932 Silver Coventry Astral Hunter Pocket Watch

1932 silver Coventry Astral half hunter pocket watch from H Williamson.

The watch has a seven jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Astral name and it has a patent number of 21180 which dates back to 1913 and relates to the mounting of winding wheels in keyless watches. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside all three covers for Birmingham 1932 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison, the Dennison Watch Case Company made cases for various watch manufacturers. The case has a little unevenness in places but overall is in very acceptable condition for a 1930s piece.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The dial is signed Coventry Astral, a brand name first registered by H Williamson in 1910. The dial is in good condition with original blued steel hands including the special half hunter hour hand so the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
