Gents Omega Seamaster 2990 wrist watch (transformed Ranchero)

It is very likely that this watch left the Omega factory as a Ranchero but somebody, and often it was a Swedish agent, had the hands and dial swapped to transform it into a Seamaster. Our understanding for this is that the name Ranchero (which roughly translates as farm boy) was not very appealing to the Swedish public, but the Seamaster name was. Hence, they are known as a 'transformed Ranchero'.

The watch has a calibre 267 hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 17,565,280 dates it back to 1960.

The watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs so a good wearable size. The case is stainless steel case is in good condition, just light surface marks but nothing serious. The inside of the case back is signed with the Omega triangular mark together with the case reference 2990 1 which is correct for the calibre 267.

The winding crown is a plain later replacement.

The lens is in good condition, as is the dial with dauphine shaped hands.

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
