Antique silver Cyma half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss ¾ plate stem-winding movement, identified as a Cyma, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark) 1918. There are also the initials JW, for the assay agent James Weir who arranged for items to be assayed for manufacturers who did not have a British address. We also have the initials GS for the importer George Stockwell.

The case has engine turned detail to both the front and back, there is some rubbing to the detail just from years of use. The front has a small central lens surrounded by enamel filled Roman numerals. The case back has some unevenness and “dings”.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is a glass lens which is in good condition.

The white enamel dial has blued steel hands including the special half hunter hour hand which is designed so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed. There is a very faint hairline running across the dial but otherwise it looks good.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
