1920s Thomas Russell pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Thomas Russell name and it is all protected by an inner hinged cover.

Thomas Russell & Son was a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch.

The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so slightly bigger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is the gold plated 'Russell' model from The Illinois Watch Case Company. The bezel and hinged case back have stylish stepped edges. There are a couple of scratches and a small pin prick “ding” to the case back.

The glass is in good condition.

The signed dial has its original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There are a couple of faint hairline cracks and some damage around number 11.

The watch will come in a new presentation box.
