Antique Billodes silver full hunter retailed by Sir John Bennett.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Billodes logo. Billodes was one of the marketing names used by George Favre-Jacot, who used several such names, including Zenith which went on to become the official company name in 1911.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which is signed Maker to the Royal Observatory, Swiss Make and Sir John Bennett, 65 & 64 Cheapside, London.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental hallmarks inside all three covers for 935 silver. The case is in good condition, just the odd minor mark but barely worth mentioning, and the engine turned detail to the front and back of the case is still nice and crisp.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is glass lens which is in good condition.

The dial is in lovely condition and it has lever-set blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read even when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes with a single hallmarked silver chain, 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch and chain come in a handsome Sir John Bennett presentation box. The underneath of the box has an original label, 'Watch Clock & Instrument Makers to Her Majesty, The Royal Observatory, the Board of Ordnance, The Admiralty, the British, Indian, Russian, Persian & French Governments, the Principal Rail Companies', dated by hand 1891.
