Large antique English silver pocket watch and albert.

The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. The movement is from one of the many Coventry watch makers, and it is signed with the name of the original retailer, Harris Stone, Leeds. The movement is protected by an inner fitted cover.

Harris Stone was born in Russia in 1863. He emigrated to the UK and set up a successful jewellery business within the city of Leeds, from where he traded until the post War years.

The watch measures 57mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop so it is larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch, the type of watch worn by landowners or industrialists. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1910, with a case maker's mark for the Birmingham based Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific manufacturer of cases for various watch makers. The case is in good condition, originally there would have been engine turned detail to the case back but this has worn off with years of use.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed with the Harris Stone, Leeds name. There are several hairline cracks to the dial but they are very faint and you have to look quite closely to see them.

The watch comes with an equally impressive Victorian silver albert, 36cm long. The albert is hallmarked on the T-bar for 1892. The albert comes with a silver fob, hallmarked for Birmingham 1929. The front of the fob has a shield which has a rose gold wash. The back of the fob is engraved from when it was awarded to T J Hudson, the winner of the COA Ping Pong Championships in 1931.

Total weight of the albert and the fob is a hefty 94.4g.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
