The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1960s.
The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely.
The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs.
Usually we would expect to see SCW within a crown shape for Smiths Clocks and Watches so this is a little more unusual. We believe the E relates to the Smiths Enfield factory which was opened in 1949.

The back of the watch has a long service inscription from British Railways.
The case is in good condition, as is the lens. In fact it looks as though the watch was only worn on special occasions as the overall condition is very nice.
The dial is in beautiful original condition with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
The watch comes in its original Smiths presentation box.
