Antique Waltham Bartlett Pocket Watch and Chain

Antique 1919 Waltham Bartlett pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a high grade stem-winding movement, Bartlett grade, which is working nicely. The plates are nicely patterned and the movement has jewelled pallets and a gold starwheel regulator. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 23,103,773 dates it back to 1919.

The Bartlett grade was named after Patten Sargeant Bartlett who was one of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company which went on to become the Waltham Watch Company. He subsequently left Waltham to work for the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois but eventually returned to Waltham to work as a salesman before opening his own wholesale business.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the English watch case maker, the Dennison Watch Case Company. The company supplied the majority of cases for Waltham UK. The case is in lovely condition.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a single chain, 30cm long.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
