1921 Longines niello pocket watch and albert.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, calibre 19.79, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 3,922,745 dates it back to 1921. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which is signed Longines and it has details of seven medals won at Grand Prix trade shows.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. It has a niello case... niello is a black mixture, usually of sulphur, copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal, especially silver, in this case 900 silver. It is added as a powder or paste, then fired until it melts or at least softens, and flows or is pushed into the engraved lines in the metal. Some of the niello has worn off over the years.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The signed dial has a very stylish appearance with stylised numbers, shaped blued steel hands and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a double albert, with each chain measuring 21cm long plus the big clasp.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
