John Hall Thorpe (29 April 1874 – 8 October 1947), invariably known as Hall Thorpe, was an Australian artist who achieved considerable success in England with his decorative prints of flowers, fruit and landscapes (their is far more information about this talented artist online)
This signed pair are presented within their original ebonised frames and lined mounts. One has its original backing the other has been replaced at some stage. The woodcuts are in excellent condition with no signs of foxing or other condition issues. Any minor marks upon the mounts & frames are indicative of their age - we would be happy to carry out any re-framing & mounting if required.
The frames measure - 52 x 33 cm
The visible area of the woodcuts measure - 18 x 17 cm
Any visible difference in the intensity of the black background in the cowslip woodcut is due to changing photographic conditions - the tones in each are of identical strength.
