A fine and decorative small Anglo Indian Sideboard in solid padouk wood. Padouk is a type of Rosewood. The sideboard is typical of Anglo Indian furniture in that it is English in overall design and function, but is decorated with Indian carving, also after English late Regency designs. The sideboard has two pedestals with full length cupboards, one with a cellarette drawer. The pedestals have wide gadrooned bases with fluted feet and a sunburst carving to the doors. The cupboards both have working locks with a key. The top section has three drawers all carved with a rolling leaf and flower design. The top is one piece of padouk wood with a carved edge and the back has a wonderful carved leaf design based on English Acanthus leaf carving. The whole is in very good condition with all the carving intact and every part working well. There is some slight discolouration to the top in one place, perhaps a heat mark but that really is the only issue and it doesn’t detract from the overall look...
