18th Century Walnut Secretaire Chest Of Drawers

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Holmes Antiques

A fine and wonderful George I Walnut Secretaire Chest of drawers of outstanding colour with Inlaid starburst, original handles, hinges, fittings and clean original oak linings.

The interior of the Secretaire drawer is well fitted with central door remarkably retaining the original lock and key.

This piece has originally been a tallboy in our opinion but the quality of the veneer work on the top matching that of the front and the wonderful patina it has developed leads us to believe that it must have been converted some 150 years ago. A high quality example of 18th Century English cabinet work.
