Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A 19th-century ebonised amboyna credenza is a high-end Victorian storage and display cabinet crafted using golden-brown amboyna wood veneers contrasted with black ebonised timber framing. These pieces frequently feature gilded bronze mounts, fine stone or porcelain embellishments, and curved glass side display bays.

Victorian credenzas of this caliber typically combine exotic burl veneers such as amboyna or walnut with ebonised hardwood, cast gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, hand-cut pietre dure stone inlay panels, ceramic medallion plaques, and blown glass.

Authentic period pieces display hand-chased metal mounts, natural age-related patination on ebonised surfaces, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, fine wood grain variations in the veneer, and period glass panels rather than modern machine-cut glass.

An ebonised and amboyna credenza serves as a focal statement piece in a formal dining room, hallway, or living space. Balancing its rich detail with neutral walls, minimalist art, or modern lighting creates a refined contrast between period craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Dust the surfaces gently using a clean, soft microfibre cloth, keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting. Avoid harsh chemicals on the gilt-bronze mounts and ebonised finish, opting for specialized furniture waxes applied sparingly.
