Large antique silver Rotherhams pocket watch, 1914.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed, 'made expressly for Aitken Roberts & Co Ltd by Rotherhams, London', and it is all protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch is a good size at 57mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop so larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1914 with a maker's mark for John Rotherham.

The case has a couple of surface “dings” to the bezel and side, and some unevenness to the case back. There is engine turned detail to the back of the watch and also a cartouche to the centre with the initials HB.

The watch glass has very light marking but is very acceptable.

The signed dial is in lovely condition with original hands, sunken subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
