Antique Coventry silver pocket watch & chain.H J Norris.

The watch has a signed cylinder key-wound movement which is working nicely and keeping good time to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The "maker's mark" for HJN within an oval for Henry John Norris, 33 Hertford street, Coventry was registered on the 20 March 1880

The watch itself measures 53.4mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. Both of the back covers are stamped fine Silver which is purer than sterling silver The case is also stamped HJN Henry John Norris. The case is in good condition, just light wear to the engine turned detail.

The watch glass has minor marking, nothing too detrimental at all.

The white enamel dial is signed H J Norris has a couple of very faint hairline cracks although hardly noticeable.

The watch has its original blued steel hands.

The watch comes on a silver watch chain with silver fob. Each link on the chain has the lion passant mark and has Birmingham hallmarks for 1900 with the makers mark for George Edward Gee.

The chain measures 42cm including the T bar and clasp.

The chain and fob weigh 46.7 grams in total

The watch & chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
