An antique 1879 silver Waltham pocket watch.

The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. ( A winding key is included )The movement is the Home Watch Co grade and the serial number 1205292 tells us that it was made between July and October 1879. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 54.8mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and has Chester hallmarks for 1878 with a maker’s mark for Alfred Bedford, the manager of the London branch of Waltham. . The case has light surface marking from use and some wear to the engine turned detail on the back but overall it is in nice condition for an 1870s piece.

The acrylic lens is in nice condition.

The off white enamel dial has a couple of very faint hairline cracks below the sub seconds dial although not noticeable to the naked eye but otherwise it is in nice condition.

The watch has gold hands and a blued steel sub seconds hand.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
