Artist: Hubert Coutts (Tucker). R.I. (1851-1921).
Title: "Iona". (showing Iona Abbey before it was rebuilt).
Signed. Watercolour. Circa 1880.
In it's very good original gilt gold leaf frame.
Size: 22 1/2"x 39 1/2". Framed size: 34"x 51".
In good ready to hang condition. Free UK delivery.
Provenance: These paintings were in the collection of Hubert Coutts' granddaughter , Diana Coutts until purchased by ourselves.
Hubert Coutts (Tucker) R.I. (1851-1921).
Hubert Coutts was a landscape painter born into a family of Lake District artists. He was the son of Edward Tucker (1825 - 1909) and brother of artists Alfred, Edward and Frederick Tucker. (Coutts changed his name from Hubert Coutts Tucker and was variously listed with the Christian names Hubert and Herbert). Exhibited at the Royal Academy, Dudley Gallery, Walker Art Gallery and Royal Scottish Academy. He was first president of the Lake Artists' Society and a member of the Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters from 1912.
Lived at Hammarbank, Windermere.
