French 19th Century Mahogany and Brass Chest of Drawers

19th century
Description

A fantastic quality French tallboy chest of drawers with beautiful plum pudding figured mahogany veneers. The chest has four fluted brass inlaid columns and turned vase shaped feet. The drawer fronts have inset panels with quarter brass mouldings and hexagonal shaped back plates and handles and oak lined drawers.

Drawers 3 and 4 were once a writing slope but have been converted many years ago into more functional drawers, which have been done very well.

The chest has a white carrara marble top and fitted pierced brass gallery. Underneath, the marble the chest is pencil signed:-

Henry Dasson

Henry Dasson was born in 1825 and was a well known Parisian cabinet maker and bronze gilt metal worker. He exhibited his work at the Expositions Universelles in 1878 and 1889. His furniture was purchased by the Royalty. Dasson died in 1896.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
