Sylvia Baker Hay was an itinerant artist and world traveller.
When her husband, the art collector Athole Hay, died suddenly in 1937 she sold their house and moved to Tangier, then on to Jamaica, Hollywood, Bali, Singapore and India. She returned to London in 1944.
