Early Victorian Flame Mahogany Bow-front Chest of Drawers

Description

-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-

A good quality early Victorian chest of drawers, of medium sized proportions.

C.1850.

The chest has a bow shaped front which incorporates four drawers. Two short drawers to the top, over two long graduating drawers. The drawers are all particularly deep and are oak lined, making them very robust and strong.

The mahogany is beautifully flame figured, with a rich glowing colour and patina.

The drawers have the original brass escutcheons and locks, with the original turned bun-handles.The brass locks to the drawers have a "crown" stamp with the initials VR, these locks where manufactured by Abraham Thompson of Little London, Willenhall. First established in 1831. This particular design stamp dates the locks to c.1850.

Standing on very elegant splay-feet.

Excellent antique condition. Expected signs of age and use. All drawers open easily and smoothly.

Very solid sturdy and strong.
