Gents Longines automatic wrist watch, 1953.

The watch has an automatic movement, calibre 19A, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed both on the plate and on the rotor and the serial number 8974464 dates it back to 1953.

The watch measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the handsomely shaped lugs. The case is gold filled. There is some surface marking but overall very acceptable for a 1950s piece.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has original dauphine shaped hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There are inset stones, which have tested positively as being diamonds, at 3, 9 and 12. On closer inspection, it would seem that the diamonds and settings were added as a result of a customer request. The professional standard of this bespoke work suggests it was carried out at the time of purchase.

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
