Description:
Here is a superb quality antique English George III oak provincial bachelors chest of drawers, circa 1780, with small rare proportions, in excellent original condition. The chest is constructed with a twin-plank oak top with a thumb-moulded edge, which is echoed in the base and features solid oak sides. Comprising of a two-over-three graduated drawer design, the drawer fronts incorporate thumb moulded drawer fronts, retaining the original brass swan neck handles and fretwork escutcheons (which is also rare to see). The drawers also retain their original working lever locks (with working key). The chest is constructed of solid oak, with pine lined hand-dovetailed drawer linings; it also retains its original pine backboards. The drawers are in good working order; they are clean inside and close flush to the frame. The chest stands on its original bracket feet: it is of extremely good quality and is made from the best materials; thus, it is very heavy to lift!

Condition Report:
This chest is in excellent original condition having been cleaned and polished in our workshop. There are nominal old use marks to the top, corners and leading edges and inside of drawers but nothing significant considering the age of the item (please see photos). The drawers retain the original brass swan neck handles and fretwork escutcheons (which is rare to see). The hand dovetailed drawers, which retain their original working lever locks (with working key), close flush to the frame. The chest benefits from a lovely deep rich oak colour, with a wonderful grain configuration. The chest stands on its original bracket feet and retains the original pine backboards. The chest is of extremely good quality and is made from the best materials, thus it is very heavy to lift!
