Fine Small Regency Mahogany Pedestal Sideboard

A fine and elegant Regency period pedestal sideboard. The sideboard is in flame mahogany with a wonderful figuring and colour to the timber. The pedestals each stand on turned feet with cupboard bases, flanked by twisted half columns. The top of the left pedestal is also a cupboard as the base, but the right has a wonderfully fitted cellarette drawer. The centre section has a single drawer and simple but elegant back board. The whole is in excellent condition with all working locks and the drawers slide freely. The sideboard is of such a small size and is so simple to take to pieces that it may well have been made as campaign furniture or perhaps naval. A fine piece of period furniture that because of the small size would work well in any position. C.1820.
