Gents 1940s Movado Bumper Automatic Wrist Watch

Gents 1940s Movado wrist watch.

The watch has an in-house calibre 221 17-jewel bumper automatic movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed with the Movado name.

Early automatic watches such as this one relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.

This particular watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs so it would suit a man with a slimmer wrist, or it could be worn by a lady. The case is stainless steel and it is in lovely condition. The inside of the case back has the Movado logo.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in very nice condition with original hands, centre seconds hand and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
