Description:

Here is a lovely quality antique English Georgian oak pot board dresser base, displaying a rich oxblood colour, circa 1780, in good condition. With narrow proportions, it would be ideal for hallways. The dresser incorporates an ovolo moulded oak top, with three working drawers, above an ornate shaped frieze. The drawer fronts are decorated with fine moulded edges and feature old replacement brass swan neck handles and escutcheons. The drawers incorporate pine linings, constructed with hand dovetail joints. The base is raised on six solid block legs, united by a pot-board base below, where the planks run front to back. The dresser has been constructed in the traditional method using the joined peg construction method.

Condition Report:

The dresser is in good condition, which is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, including inside of drawers, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The drawer fronts feature old replacement brass swan neck handles and escutcheons (most likely Victorian). The drawers retain their original hand dovetailed drawer linings. The dresser is raised on its original legs and pot-board. The dresser has been cleaned and French polished in our workshops. The dresser boasts a fantastic rich oak colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The dresser is well constructed, solid in joint with no loose movements and is ready to be used.
