Gertrude Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
On the reverse of the ivory it is noted in ink that this striking miniature portrait of Florence Kinnear was painted when she was aged 18 and that she was to be married the following year when she was 19 in 1867 to Lieutenant Price Lewes of the Royal Artillery.
