Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The chest stands on its original bracket feet. Nice 18th century mouldings to the top and bottom.
The chest is in pretty good condition for its age and is a lovely colour with original patination. There are some old stains to the top but this does not detract from the colour. The brass swan neck handles are period handles and are in the original holes but they are not original, if you look really closely you can see it has had wooden knobs at some point in the past.
This is a lovely small chest of drawers with great character and is as useful now as it was when it was made.
