A beautiful rosewood veneered chest of drawers of monumental size, dating from the mid to late 19th Century. The locks are stamped ''Cope & Collinson'' which denotes a maker of the highest quality. They could be attributed to Howard & Sons. It has all its original turned knobs and the bottom drawer is full depth providing a huge amount of storage. It is so unusual for them to be made of Rosewood and the grain and patina is simply stunning.
The quality is absolutely superb and they are in excellent condition. Each drawer is clean and tidy and has had the runners either repaired or replaced to ensure each drawer opens and closes smoothly. The side is slightly faded and there are the usual small signs of wear and a few minor marks on the top surface and a minor chip at the very back but nothing detrimental. The back is strong and solid and free from any sign of worm.
