Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nineteenth-century French bronze sculptures, produced during the Romantic and Neo-Renaissance revivals, frequently featured historical figures, troubadours, and Renaissance subjects. Cast by foundries such as Barbedienne using lost-wax or sand-casting methods, these figures reflected Second Empire and late Victorian artistic tastes.

Antique bronze figures were cast from a copper alloy using sand casting or the cire perdue process. They were finished with chemically applied patinas, ranging from rich warm browns to deep dark tones, and mounted on integral or marble bases.

Authentic castings often feature stamped or incised foundry marks such as F. Barbedienne, Fondeur or Collas reduction stamps. Inspection of the hand-chased surface detail, weight consistent with bronze, and original patination helps establish authenticity.

A patinated bronze sculpture serves as a focal accent on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or console table within traditional or eclectic interiors. Displaying the item against light backdrops under warm directional lighting highlights the three-dimensional modelling and rich surface tone.

Maintain an antique bronze figure by dusting regularly with a soft microfibre cloth or horsehair brush. Avoid water and chemical solvents; a light coating of microcrystalline wax buffed gently preserves the original patina and protects against atmospheric oxidisation.
