Mid C18th George II period mahogany chest of drawers of exceptional colour and originality.

Fine example of a mid Georgian period chest of 4 long drawers having a wonderful rich colour and patina. Raised on original exaggerated ogee section shaped bracket feet, with canted and reeded corners . The twin plank construction solid mahogany top of well-figured timber with a glowing gently faded patination.

The oak-lined graduated and 'cock-beaded' 4 long drawers all fitted with the original brass 'swan-neck' handles and cast brass key escutcheons.

Original pine backboards .

A well-proportioned chest of neat scale ,width and attractive low height in excellent original condition.

Minor historic repairs and marks commensurate with age,use and purpose.

Minor shrinkage cracks the the grain of the sides.

Northern Counties of England , probably Lancashire.
