Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The chest stands on its original swept out bracket feet. The canted corners are veneered in tiger maple. The top has ebony string around the edge and boxwood string further in.

The chest is in very good condition with no repairs, the only slight fault is the joints in the ends have opened up a wee bit.
The chest retains a very nice deep patination and is a lovely colour. It has had a sKin of polish applied probably in Edwardian times to the top and fronts.
