The detailed embroidery on the décolletage and the jewelry has been well observed and painted with finesse. The soft modelling of the features and the slight turn of the head add to its overall appeal and attractiveness. An inscription on verso states ‘Prouancal fecit’ which implies an artist or area.

This beautiful sitter is wearing a fortune in jewels. Pearls and diamonds are incorporated into the hair jewelry, earings, onto the bodice, and the brooch clasp on the mantle.
