This chest is a really super size at 33ins wide but has good storage space in the four drawers. A great item which can fit anywhere in the house, it carries the plaque of cabinet makers Thomas Clarkson.

Thomas Clarkson & Sons have been in existence since the 17th century. The Clarkson family were first recorded as clockmakers in London in 1640. In 1755, Hewitt Clarkson moved the business to Cock Street, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. The family continued to trade there successfully, manufacturing long-case clocks. In about 1780, the business moved to Dudley Street, later known as Snow Hill, in Wolverhampton. In 1840, in response to the declining popularity of long-case clocks, the family founded a furniture business at Snow Hill. In 1871, it acquired the freehold of the premises.
