An excellent quality walnut French double bed.
c1890.
With an exceptional exquisitely carved cresting to the headboard, including finely carved floral motifs. The bed would have originally been bespoke made as there are initials to the centre of the cresting. The initials appear to be SB. The carving is of excellent quality as it is part of the top rail.
Lovely shaped and carved side-rails, echoing the design of the footboard.
Standing on very elegant shell and scroll carved feet.
The walnut has developed a warm rich colour, and excellent patina.
With an upholstered bed base which separates to two pieces, for ease of moving.
Fits a UK standard double 4ft 6" mattress.
Very easy to assemble.
Completely dismantles into a headboard a footboard, two side-rails.
The bed will be dismantled ready for collection.
The overall condition is excellent antique condition.
Very solid, sturdy and strong.
