George III Mahogany Bachelor's Chest of Drawers

Description

Circa 1775, good George III mahogany bachelor’s chest of drawers. The top with its stylish flamed mahogany is cross banded also in flame mahogany and has a simple moulded edge. Beneath the top there is a pull out brushing slide with a felt interior, a double beaded fore edge and 2 cast brass axe head drops. Beneath this there is a configuration of 2 short drawers over the 3 further graduating drawers with the original swan neck handles which have stylish pommels and simple circular back plates. There is also a simple proud escutcheon on each of the drawers. Beneath the bottom drawer there is an ogee moulding and the whole piece stands on squat bracket feet. The chest is an excellent colour and neat size.
