George III & Later Mahogany Serpentine Commode

18th century
Description

Great shape George III and later bold serpentine fronted three drawer commode with brushing slide. Made from the finest figured mahogany throughout including the sides. The top with mahogany crossbanding and small quarter round thumb moulding to the edge. The drawers with cock beaded edges and very nice later rococo style brass swan neck handles. The brushing slide with matching cock beaded edge and ring handles.

The whole piece displays the most gorgeous colour and patination, in fact it is so good I wish you could bottle it and use it on something else !!

The commode has been later adapted, probably in Edwardian times from a four drawer chest to its current size.

SIZE; 45" wide by 24" deep by 32" in height.
