Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1870s.
They have a beautifully figured flamed mahogany fronts with two over four graduating drawers with the original turned handles with inlaid mother of pearl centres. The drawer dividers are unusual with half round moulded edges and the chest has quality carved corbels whilst standing on a plain plinth with turned bun feet. This wonderful chest of drawers provide adequate storage and benefit from maintaining the original backboards. The mahogany has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
