It has a wonderful serpentine shaped frieze drawer above two over three graduating drawers with the original turned walnut handles with inlaid mother of pearl centres. The super chest provides adequate storage as well as being a stunning piece of furniture, the two corbels are beautifully carved and this super chest stands on an unusual base with drawer and has four chunky bun feet. The mahogany has aged to a mellow shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
