Outstanding Regency Mahogany Breakfront Cabinet. C. 1820

19th century
Description

Outstanding and most unusual design Regency mahogany and ebony inlaid breakfront side cabinet. The whole piece is of the best quality. Ebony inlaid throughout.

The end doors with original brass grills with recently re-done pleated silk panels behind. Inside there are two fully adjustable shelves with nicely moulded mahogany edges.

The middle section with a large cupboard to the centre flanked by two smaller cupboards on either side. The central cupboard with one shelf. The smaller cupboards, the left hand one has shelves, the right hand one with three drawers (probably had 4 originally). Above the cupboards there are two long drawers, the bottom one a drawer, the upper one a dummy drawer.

The top has a fold down desk part which is fitted inside like a lap desk. There is a super-structure to the back with turned uprights to the front, mahogany panel to the back and a full length shelf with gallery.

The ends have the ebony stringing running round both on the top and bottom sections. The whole piece sits on its originally fixed plinth.

The whole piece is a gorgeous colour and patination only achieved from years of waxing. One of the most unusual pieces of Regency carcass furniture I have seen.

SIZES; 63" long overall by 20" deep. 34" from the floor to the top. 47" high overall.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
