Miles Griffiths Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
In superb condition, a very unusual antique ships chest with carrying handles to each side, these were also used to pass rope through to lash the chest down to the deck of the ship. The gallery top was used to stop items falling of when at sea.
Dates from around 1840-50.
