The top of this dresser is constructed from three pieces of oak, which is cross-banded with a refined mahogany moulding. The top of the dresser boasts a stunning piece of oak; the medulla rays in the timber are superbly pronounced. The dresser base consists of three working drawers, which feature scribe drawer fronts and the original brass swan neck handles and brass oval escutcheons. The drawers are hand dovetailed and pine lined. All drawers feature their original working locks and working keys. Below, the dresser boasts an elegant scalloped frieze. The dresser stands on elegant square tapering legs.

This more pronounced style of dresser was typical of Border Country dressers (compared to their Southern English counterparts). The “Border counties” is a term that denotes an imprecisely defined area along and around the border counties between England and Wales (Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire) in the United Kingdom.

Condition Report:
The item is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour, patination and figuration to the timer. This colour cannot be re-created by re-polishing. The brass swan neck handles and brass oval escutcheons are original. The drawers boast the original working locks and working keys. The original drawers are pine lined, hand dovetailed and close flush to the frame. There are no splits to the top of the dresser, which is rare to see. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
